PhillyCare Coaching offers specialized occupational-therapy consulting and coaching services for caregivers of people living with dementia.
Their mission is to support caregivers, helping them find relief, confidence, and practical ways to care for their loved ones while also caring for themselves.
The practice is led by Emily S. Gavin, MS, OTR/L, CDP, an experienced occupational therapist and certified dementia-care practitioner.
Emily is an occupational therapist in private practice who works with family caregivers of people living with dementia.
She helps them understand their loved one’s cognitive function, manage challenging behaviors, communicate more effectively, and provide engaging activities that are both personal and cognitively appropriate.
She also supports caregivers with stress management and self-care. Her services blend skilled therapy, coaching, consulting, and emotional support.
In many cases, she becomes part of the family care team, guiding caregivers through the changing needs of a progressive disease. She brings a functional view of cognition that helps families learn how to communicate, structure the environment, and create meaningful daily activities for their loved one.
These new skills and mindsets reduce stress and conflict, improve quality of life, and help make home-based caregiving more sustainable.
PhillyCare Coaching is based in the Philadelphia area. They offer both in-home visits (for clients in Philadelphia) and online sessions for those elsewhere in Pennsylvania. This flexibility aims to make support accessible, even when in-person help isn’t possible.
