A Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) is a professional trained to help older adults and people with mobility challenges live safely, comfortably, and independently in their homes as they age.
They assess the home for safety and accessibility issues and recommend solutions such as grab bars, better lighting, ramps, wider doorways, safer bathrooms, and other aging-in-place modifications. CAPS professionals may include contractors, occupational therapists, designers, and healthcare professionals who understand both home design and the needs of older adults.
